It’s been a prolonged time since Toshihiro Nagoshi, creator of the iconic game “Like a Dragon” from the Yakuza series, left SEGA corporation to start his own venture under NetEase. (A typical Yakuza boss behaviour, to leave his old days, just to start the same shady business).

While fans are still in disbelief, the suffering has come to an end as Toshihiro-san’s Nagoshi Studio is bringing back the life of delinquency in a brand-new game titled “Gang of Dragon.”

So, if you are a hardcore fan of games like the Yakuza Franchise or Sleeping Dogs, this upcoming game is a flawless match for you.

Gang of Dragon Release Date, Price and More

With the game still under development and many details yet to be confirmed by the officials, this eagerly awaited game was officially announced at the Game Awards on December 12, 2025 with an electrifying teaser trailer.

For those who slept on this one, they can please their eyes with a two-minute-long teaser trailer revealed by the official account of The Game Awards on YouTube.

Turning to the game’s crucial information, the officials at Nagoshi Studio have not revealed the release date or a window for the game's launch in the industry. However, several analysts and fans have speculated that the game will be released in August 2027 or fall 2028.

Whereas, Reddit fans are expecting that Nagoshi Inc might drop a gameplay teaser trailer in December 2026 with head-to-head combat between Shin Ji-seong and the underworld arch-nemesis.

Though the Gang of Dragon is tagged as Coming Soon on Steam, with gameplay cutouts and a teaser trailer, fans across social media revisit Ma Dong-seok’s epic fight scenes and expect more asian actors from these types of genre.

Meanwhile, pricing is not revealed by officials at the moment, but it is expected that Gang of Dragon will be listed with a price of $19.99, and the collector’s edition at a whopping $29.99, similar to Yakuza: Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth!

Gang of Dragon : Who’s Gonna Lead the Organization

Created by Nagoshi Studio, Gang of Dragon is a standalone action-adventure story mode game that delves into a shady world of delinquents and their evil schemes. The game will offer a third-person perspective with gameplay majorly focused on hand-to-hand combat. Besides that, fans can experience Katana, arms, and ammunition with high-voltage vehicle mayhem!

The game takes you to real-life Shinjuku’s Kabukicho, Tokyo, Japan. Also known as one of the best nightlife spots in the world, the narrative revolves around

Shin Ji -Seong who is portrayed by an iconic and most appreciated South Korean Actor, Ma Dong-seok ,from Train to Busan and The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil.

Being a part of an established Korean crime syndicate in Kabukicho, Shin wanders around the streets of Shinjuku and gets stuck between underworld conflicts. Intertwined with bloodshed and relations with the family(Yakuza), Shin carves his way to the top with brute strength and a sense of self-purpose.

Gang of Dragon : Expectations and Teaser Trailer Explained

Fanbase’s speculations are one of the best things a studio can consider to run their game for an extended time period. With a room full of anticipation, here are some speculations that might catch Studio’s attention.

After witnessing the teaser trailer, fans are expecting the game to be more mature and dark than the Yakuza series. On the other hand, Reddit fans speculate Gang of Dragon to be a higher-up version of Sleeping Dogs.

Right off the bat, fans from r/yakuzagames share Ma Dong-seok action replays and expect the game to have similar fight scenes. Existing Yakuza players speculate that the game might have a free roam instead of a compact free roam like the Yakuza series.

Whether this game might entertain you or not, Nagoshi Inc has revived veterans from Sleeping Dogs, Ryu Ga Gotoku’s iconic Yakuza Kiwami.

Likewise, Wei Shen fans are speculating that Gang of Dragon will showcase a ranking system through the Yakuza organization, where Shin Ji-seong will unravel the mysteries of his companions and rival gangs.

If you haven’t unveiled the trailer till now, let me yap about Gang of Dragon’s legendary casting and an awe-inspiring lore.

The teaser trailer released by PlayStation is set in a grittier environment. The teaser kicks off with an adrenaline pump as Shin Ji-seong gets stabbed right in the gut by a low-ranking delinquent.

However, his demonic demeanor stares right into the delinquent’s soul and grabs the knife while cursing him on screen. First impression was so goated that it made fans go crazy over a small quarrel. (What can you even expect after hitting Shin Ji-seong without his consent?)

Soon after, the cinematic teaser reveals (Ma Dong-seok portrayed) Shin Ji-seong chilling out in a random club in Kabukicho. Shin congratulates a character named Daiki on surviving either a mission or jail time.

Out of the sudden, the main protagonist is encountered by delinquents from another gang, and one of them makes a grave mistake by pointing a gun straight at our rizz-lord. The consequences? One got killed on the spot, the second one got a hit as powerful as Saitama straight to the gut, and others fled away from the scene with a generational trauma.

Wrapping Up

Breaking up with Ryu Ga Gotoku, it seems like Nagoshi-san might deliver one of the best action-adventure games ever known to the Yakuza community. As per my perspective, this game might become a remontada from a former SEGA employee. Filled with an enthralling narrative of the underworld, Gang of Dragon is a perfect blend of self-discovery, human connections, and ultimate fight scenes!
