If you’ve spent the last couple of hours practicing Gun-Fu at your house, you’ve probably seen the headlines - John Wick is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Its official trailer has been showcased at Sony's February State of Play 2026.
If you want to know how you’re going to actually be the Boogeyman in 2026, grab a drink (standard rules apply: no business on company grounds) and read on.
1. It’s Not Just a Prequel - It’s the “Impossible Task”
What Beebom and FreeJobAlert didn't tell you is that this game is possibly centered entirely on the "Impossible Task." You know, the legendary night in St. Petersburg that allowed John to retire, marry Helen, and buy a Mustang he’d eventually lose over a dog. We aren't just going to be 'Young John,' we are going to be 'Peak John' at the maximum level of 'I kill people with stationery' powers.
Unlike the tactical John Wick Hex (which was great if you like playing 'chess' with guns), this is a AAA powerhouse that will blow your mind.
2. The "Gun-Fu" Mechanics
Saber Interactive isn't taking it lightly guys - it's 100% John Wick style combat…which was ‘very noticeable’ in the official trailer.
Sources (the sharp-eyed nerds on Reddit) have noted that the combat engine is a hybrid animation system. Most shooters have a "shooting mode" and a "melee mode." This game most probably won't. Much like the films, the transitions seem to be super-fluid. You won't just reload, you'd first smash it on somebody's skull, and maybe reload in or around that journey.
3. The 'Pencil Mechanic' is Here! (Environmental Lethality)
While other games give you a "Press X to Melee" button, the 2026 Wick title features 'Environmental and Contextual Lethality." See a library book? That’s a weapon. See a pack of crayons? That’s a massacre waiting to happen. The trailer showed John using a set of chopsticks in a way that would make a sushi chef faint. This game would encourage you to use the environment because, let’s be honest, ammo is for people who aren't John Wick. He uses a F***ing Pencil!
4. The Continental : More Than a Save Point
We personally don't think that the Continental is just going to be a setting. Not yet.
The game would use the Continental as a dynamic social hub just like Elden Ring’s Roundtable Hold. This is where you’ll manage your 'High Table' reputation. Imagine instead of getting a "Game Over" screen; you get a global bounty placed on your head in real-time. It’s basically GTA’s wanted system, but instead of 'bot cop army', you have the world's most elite assassins coming for your soul.
5. Sorry, Sony - John's Not All Yours
Saber Interactive is a multi-platform beast. While the marketing is draped in blue, 'Baba Yaga' is coming for PC (Steam/Epic) and Xbox Series X/S as well.
PC Players take note : With Saber’s history of optimization, expect full Ray Tracing (because those neon puddles in Osaka need to look crisp) and DLSS 4.0 support. Your GPU is going to sweat harder than ever.
While they argue about release windows (it’s Late 2026, relax), we’re also looking at the Chad Stahelski involvement. The man who directed the movies is overseeing the stunt choreography for the movement capture. This isn't just another "movie game." This is going to be an (actual) interactive expansion of the Wick-verse.
One final tip : If you see a guy in a suit holding a pencil in the game’s multiplayer lobby... (please Saber!) just leave. It’s not worth it.
Be seeing you.
