Metro Exodus, developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver, is the third main entry in the acclaimed Metro series, based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. The story follows Artyom and his companions from the Spartan Rangers as they flee the ruins of Moscow aboard the steam locomotive Aurora, searching for a new life beyond the irradiated city. Their journey spans an entire year, taking players through diverse regions of post-apocalyptic Russia, including frozen wastelands, desert plains, forested valleys and decaying industrial zones.
 

Gameplay blends first-person shooting, stealth and survival mechanics. Ammunition and resources are scarce, forcing players to carefully manage supplies and decide when to fight or avoid confrontation. Weapons can be extensively customized and maintained, with dirt, damage and environmental conditions affecting performance. Crafting systems allow players to create filters, medkits and ammunition on the fly.
 

Unlike traditional open-world shooters, Metro Exodus emphasizes player choice and consequence. How players interact with human factions—whether through violence or restraint—can influence the story’s outcome and determine which of several endings they receive. Exploration is rewarded with hidden upgrades, narrative details and optional encounters that deepen immersion.
